How Many People Get Useable Water In Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Water is one of the important resources in life. Who would say that he or she hasn’t used it before? And because of this, the search for how to find good and useable water has been a quest for many people in the land of Port Harcourt.

Well, there are two ways people get usable water in Port Harcourt, and honestly, speaking, I feel that you would prefer the second one over the first by the time we conclude this article. However, the two ways are as follows:

1. Through the Sinking of Personal Bore Holes:

People in Port Harcourt don’t pay to get water from the government. The elite ones who can afford sinking personal bore holes for their houses do not seem to relent from doing so. They’ll mostly go to a land where fresh water can be found, pay for a portion of it, and sink their bore hole there. Then, they’ll use pipes and pumps to move and transport the water from that place to the different parts of their houses.

Most times, people who do this are hired personnel. But there are some occasions where the owner does fix it himself, especially when he has some knowledge about it.

It is truly enjoyment to have a bore hole of your own. It brings the luxury of not stressing yourself to go about looking for the resource. However, the only downside of this method is that it is very expensive to start up and you’d have to pump the water into tanks for storage because it won’t just flow like that. The former is probably the reason why not so much people in PH have personal boreholes.

2. By Fetching From Public Taps:

This method is very common in P.H. Many people I’ll just go and fetch the water themselves from commercial boreholes. This method is stressful but pocket friendly. There are some water fetchers who do business with it. They sell to people who can’t fetch the water themselves for whatever reason best known to them. These people sell at a much higher rate than the original borehole owners themselves but they seem to be patronized.
