Flashback: How Two Women Got Healed of Their Illnesses after Late Wigglesworth Told Them to Run Round the Church, and the Impact it had on My Faith.

The lifetime of Smith Wigglesworth was filled with numerous powerful healing events from God. One of such events is this story two women who were both healed of their illnesses on the same day and in the same venue, after the man of God prayed for them and told them to run round the church building. While the first woman suffered from tuberculosis, the second woman did also suffer from Sciatica – a condition where a person is unable to walk due to severe pains from the back, to the hips and down to the calf or legs arising from a protruded bone (vertebral bone) pressing on the roots of the Sciatic nerve [Encarta Dictionaries].

It is noteworthy to say that Smith was preaching in an Arizona Church meeting one day, and a woman decided to come out after he had made a call for people who needed healing. This woman was suffering from tuberculosis and she was the first beneficiary of the healing miracle. When she got towards the platform where the man of God stood, he looked towards her, prayed and told her to run round the building. However, the woman sincerely resisted the man of God’s instruction by saying that she could not run. Then, Smith Wigglesworth  told her that she should do as he had said (This meant that what he said was a command and not a request that should be negotiated).

When the woman heard the second instructive words of the man of God, she began to move slowly and reluctantly. Then, Smith came down from the platform where he stood on, took her by the hand and pulled her while he himself ran around the auditorium. There was a surprising incident which took place after some time. The woman who could not run began to gallop, and gradually, she started running without assistance of anyone (This was the sign of her miracle).

Do you know that there was another woman right there in the Church meeting who was suffering from Sciatica? This woman couldn’t walk as a result of this issue but that all changed when she followed the instruction of Smith Wigglesworth. Smith saw this woman, and he told her to stand up and run round the auditorium. History repeated itself when the woman did likewise the other lady in the first instance. But Smith, not being patient with that kind of situation, pushed her, and he began to run with her.

It was truly amazing. The woman who could not walk was miraculously seen running, and she did even without the aid of the man of God because he had left her after some time. To show that this was indeed a miracle, this woman did walk in the service when she wanted to.

Now, this story is a very inspiring one, and it did really have an impact on my faith. The impact is seen in these two lessons I learnt. Without wasting much time, they are as follows:

1. The first lesson I got from this story is that the catalyst of any miraculous event is faith. The Bible says in the book of Hebrews chapter 11 verses 6 that:

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Therefore, anyone who wants God’s miracle just like that of these two women or even better should learn to have faith in him after praying and amending their ways and he would surely do it.

2. As a second lesson, I got that we should learn not to argue with the anointed of the Lord. The Bible says in the book of 2nd Chronicles chapter 20 verses 20 that:

“….; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”

Therefore, one of the ways to be prosperous in finances, health, academics and other aspects of life is to believe in the instruction that comes from God’s anointed, the prophet. The two women were very reluctant to believe and do what Smith Wigglesworth had told them. But thank God that the man of God took a bold step by pulling them towards himself and ran with them.

I hope you learnt something too. Thanks for Reading!!
