Do You Know How the Rivers State University Admission System Works?
If you feel like learning about the admission process of the Rivers State University, then I believe that you have landed on the right page. This article would aim at telling you everything you need to know about the RSU' s admission system as well as how the process works. Students who aspire to join this university should pay rapt attention so their admission journey would be a nice one indeed. But how does it work?
Well, the admission process starts from the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board examinations that a student would take in his or her designated centers. This exam is very crucial and it is an important determining factor in the admission process.
The reason for this is that every year, JAMB gives a cut off for every university and polytechnic and any student who does not meet this cut off mark would not be allowed to write the Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation examinations (Post UTME) of any university or polytechnic. Hence, all students are advised to take their JAMB exams seriously so that they can start the journey of their admission. What you should also note is that students who score high in the JAMB exams have a better chance at entering the university than those who scored low, and I would explain why as we proceed.
Well after the JAMB exams, the next set of exams you are going to write is the Post UTME exams. This exam is conducted in the school where you applied for and the date and time is given after you have bought the form and registered for it. After the JAMB exams, you are advised to continue preparing for your POST UTME examinations so that you can make the best out of it.
On the completion of your Post UTME examinations, the results would be displayed on the screen of your computer and you as well as the invigilator taking the scores would see it. This is where you decide your aggregate score. To know your aggregate score for an RSU admission process, just divide your JAMB score by eight and add the value to your Post UTME score. For example a student who scores a two hundred and forty in his JAMB exams and a thirty in his Post UTME exams would divide the JAMB score (that is two hundred and forty) by eight. This would give thirty as the value. Then he would add this value to the Post UTME score. That is thirty plus thirty, and that would give an aggregate score of sixty.
After the aggregate score is known, the student is expected to wait for some days before the departmental cut off mark is announced. This cut off mark is dependent on factors such as the failure rate of the students, the number of students applying for that course, and lots more. In RSU, the law students usually do have a very high departmental cut off mark ranging from sixty to seventy percent.
Once your aggregate score beats the cut off mark or is equal to it, you would get admitted. However, there is a special case where a person won' t get admitted because the number of people who got aggregates higher than his were equal to the number of students that the department expects to admit for that year. When this happens, the student is advised to take a supplementary form and go for a course that is equivalent to the one he or she wanted to go for if he or she wishes to do so.
