3 Bad Habits That Can Destroy Business and How to Kill Them

Do you think that bad habits don’t affect the success of any business venture? Then you need to think again. It is impossible to divorce the success of any business from the habit of the businessman or woman. Wise people who know this try as much as possible to put their habits in check before it puts their business into failure. Development depends on strategy but for that strategy to work out, it must be void of any bad habit whatsoever. Having said all these, I can vehemently stand here to tell you that the bad habits that can destroy any business are:

1.     Careless Spending:

Let’s say a person’s business came into the profit limelight and he or she begins to spend carelessly. In no distant time, the fate of that business would be like that of Sahara desert we all know of. You see, careless spending has a down side on any business venture. It can create debt for the entrepreneur. It can put the business under pressure, and it can even facilitate the premature lock-down of that business.

Careless spending can be referred to a situation where a person utilizes money for the wrong and unneeded purposes, thereby misplacing priorities and losing profits in the long run. A businessman or woman should never be a careless spender. Every dime spent should be articulated and well accounted for. If careless spending is a habit, then it needs to be put down because the business for which it has attached itself to is at greater risk of death.

Every entrepreneur should seek to kill any form of careless spending. Some methods which I propose are having a scale of preference, sticking to the plan, and buying what is needed at a particular or proposed time. This way, the businessman or woman need not worry of spending carelessly as everything that the money has bought would be a prerequisite to getting more money for him or her.

2.    Laziness:

Are you conversant with the saying, “there is no food for the lazy man”? If you are, then you would probably know where this is headed. Laziness is a slow but dangerous tool that can destroy the life of any business. It is like a snail on a leaf, whose intention is to eat the leaf slowly until it dies. Lazy people would surely experience business failures because they would lack the stamina to cope in the race of success.

Laziness is when someone abstains from doing the right thing at the right time even as at when it ought to be done. Oversleeping is a form of laziness. Playing games or watching TV when you have not finished your work is laziness. In fact, anything that defiles the work that should be done at a particular time is a proper facilitator of laziness, or laziness itself.

Entrepreneurs should try as much as possible to avoid laziness. The person in question can avoid it by using an alarm to guide him or her in his or her activities, putting his or herself under check by allowing someone older and wiser than the person to oversee his or her activities, and never thinking twice before doing the right work when it is the right time to do so. Once a person has successfully defeated laziness, it means that he or she has successfully entered into the realm of the successful in business, and this is where happiness and fulfillment comes in.

3.     Giving Up After an Initial Knock Down:

Come on! Is there any successful person in life who did not have a challenging story to tell? If a businessman or woman gives up after an initial knock down, then it means that the person is truly not ready for success, and this is a bad habit that should be terminated. No matter how bad the flops may be, what makes it better is the ability to rise up to the challenge. Only people who rise up to the dangers are opportune to eat the spicy rice that comes from their hard work.

If you feel discouraged after a flop or a knock down, then you can do the following. Firstly, you should take a break and relax. Breathe in through your nose, and then out through your mouth. Breathe in through your nose again, and then out through your mouth again. Think of all the pleasurable memories that you have had in the past. Whether it’s in business or not, I just want you to think of something that would gladden your heart.

After this, you can have your bath, take a meal, and get your pen and book ready. Now, begin to write down your experiences. Your flaws, your plans, and even the little success you had before the flops. The next thing to do is to pray, and after you have done that, it is pertinent that you begin to re-strategize the plan. When carrying out this phase, I want you to consider all the past flaws, and try to make something that would counteract them. Also try to imagine the possible future flaws, and continue to provide solutions that would disable them as they arise.

After you have finished, you would find out that you have successfully brought out a whole new idea that is fashioned towards the success of that business. The moment you begin to implement this new idea, you have not only risen up to the challenge but you have also broken out of the pangs of the two dangerous dream killers which are depression and discouragement.

 Conclusion:

I believe that you would now come to agreement with me when I say that bad habits are locusts of the field of business. Entrepreneurs should take their habits seriously because it could crash or promote their business ventures. The disturbing part about these bad habits is that they don’t operate on one particular business. They go like wild fire, and hence, they should be stopped whenever they arise. So, I advise any entrepreneur reading this to check his or her ways and purify them of any bad habits if he or she is found wanting.
