Check Out Some Extra-Curricular Activities That Go on in the Rivers State University.

 Are education, studying, and learning the only things done by the students and staff of the Rivers State University? No! The school does have some extra- curricular activities going on right in it and many students as well as lecturers do participate in them.

This article is aimed at telling you what they are and how they do operate. Without further ado, they are as follows:

Cultural Group Activities:

The Rivers State university is a home to students of different tribes, and this forms the basis of the cultural group activities that go on in the school. The cultural group activities usually take place in every Wednesday of the schooling week.

It is during this day, after all lectures have been duly concluded, that the students would go to their respective cultural groups if they wish, and do deliberations on the things that should be done in these groups as well as pressing issues that concerns them both as a member of that tribe and as a student of the school.

There are different cultural groups in the Rivers State University. Some include the group of the Delta Students, the group of the Igbo students, the group of the Ikwere students, the group of the Bony students and lots more.

Sporting Activities:

Another extra- curricular activity that do go on in the Rivers State University is the sporting activities. Going from football to basket ball and others, there is always some kind of sport going on in the school. The official sporting day of the school is Wednesday. However, there are some students who do play football and basket ball in any other day when they are free of lectures.

Also, some of them who do jogging usually carry out their activities in the early hours of the day. Furthermore, friendly competitions between departments and faculties are arranged by the students of different category of sports.

The category that is the most popular is the football category where they organize a lot of competitions. The people in charge of these competitions are mostly the director of sports of the school and also the departments, and lecturers who are enthusiastic about sporting activities.

Students do participate in these competitions, and at the end, a winner is brought out from the crowd.

There you have it. These are two extra- curricular activities that go on in the Rivers State University.
